Come From A Place of Service

What will make florists stand out for hotel clients? Is it simply just unique floral designs? First off, it is essential to understand that it is all about coming from a place of service in the hospitality industry. But, what does that mean exactly?

Even though my own floral business crashed overnight, I had two options. I...

How Hotel Lobby Flower Arrangements Make Guests Feel At Home

hotel florist Apr 22, 2021

If you walk through the doors of any luxury hotel chances are you will see a beautiful floral arrangement in the center of the room or elegantly placed behind the front desk. Hotel lobby flower arrangements add so much to the hotel experience as they hit the senses in many different ways and evoke a series of emotions for the arriving guest. I had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Jon Cummins, the COO of Amerimar and hotel owner, about how hotel lobby flower arrangements impact his guests and why hotel lobby flower arrangements are so important in his hotels.

Hotel Lobby Flower Arrangements Evokes the Feeling of “Home”

The arrival experience to a hotel is one of the most important guest experiences for hoteliers.  Having fresh flowers in the hotel lobby evokes a sense of luxury, welcomed arrival and also brings the comfort of home. hotel flowers Apr 22, 2021

When it comes to running a successful floral business, having the right tools in your toolbelt is essential. For me, one of my most valuable tools was Beth O’Reilly, who with her extensive knowledge in the wholesale and floral industry, became my mentor and ultimately taught me so much that has helped me get to where I am today. I sat down to interview Beth on what advice she would give a florist whether they are just starting out or have been in business a few years now.

The key to success in your floral business is not complicated, it all starts with simply learning the basics of floristry and the principles of designs. The principles and elements of design are what everyone learns in art 101, no matter if you're doing graphic design, sculpture, painting, any art form, you learn the principles and elements of design and you need a refresher every now and then. Even though Beth has been...

The Importance of Backend Floral Systems for Florists

How many times have you stayed up late working on a floral proposal wishing there was a flower software or floral systems that you could just input your information and output a perfectly calculated proposal or order form? There is, and this exact scenario I described is what led to the creation of Curate, a software designed to help florists create a strong backend system where they can price for profit.

This flower software has been a game-changer for my own business as I have personally been using it for years to create my floral systems.  Before using this software I was spending hours manually calculating costs and order forms, trying to find a balance between overordering and underordering and not overspending.  It was complicated and time-consuming and I was just sort of winging it with my excel spreadsheets, and this was a big reason why I stopped doing weddings & events.

I recently sat down and talked with Ryan O’Neil, the founder of...
